Hakgala Hillside A-Frame Villa
Hakgala - Nuwaraeliya
The villa is organized as a sequence of three inhabited terraces below a road-level arrival. Instead of forcing a broad platform into the hillside, the building steps down in 2.7-metre level changes, allowing the structure to remain narrow, elevated and visually light against the terrain. The steep A-frame roof gives the house a clear mountain silhouette and quickly sheds Nuwara Eliya's frequent rain. Beneath it, dark timber cladding and teak-toned soffits bring warmth to the exterior, while charcoal steel braces express how the decks and glazed rooms are held above the slope. Exposed concrete piers and rough stone retaining walls anchor the lighter upper structure to the site. Living
